Summer Beauty Products

Two things that don’t go together: peanut butter and ketchup.

Just like summer heat and make-up.

I find myself struggling to keep a decent appearance while living in the Florida heat 9 months out of the year. Lucky for you I have an arsenal of products perfect for the sweltering jungle and I’m sharing them with you!

1- Tinted moisturizer: Perfekt Skin Perfection Gel is a life saver for me come summer months. Foundation usually drips off my face within minutes of stepping outside so a tinted moisturizer is a perfect way to even your skin tone and keep a healthy glow! I love Perfekt because it’s sweat and water resistant (perfect for that mid-layout dip) and it also doubles as a tinted primer for under your evening make-up. The coverage isn’t as good as your daily make-up so expect to use some concealer on trouble spots. Be sure to try it on at your local Sephora as the tints can be a little darker than you’d expect.

If you don’t want to go out and buy a tinted moisturizer, mixing a couple drops of your foundation with a face lotion containing SPF is an easy way to make your own. It’s light weight and you still get your coverage and protect your skin!

2- Skin Hydrator: We all have fallen victim to staying in the sun a little too long after one too many drinks. Checking out our red skin immediately sobers us as we dread the eventual skin-shedding ritual our body will partake in. Lucky for us skin hydrators can help ease this process. June Jacobs has a great after sun hydrator that not only soothes your skin but also reduces redness and peeling, helping to maintain your tan. I use this product along with Maui Babe After Browning Lotion

3- Beachy Hair: There’s a reason why surfer chicks are lusted after other than their bangin’ bods…amazing, carefree hair. Thanks to a sweet little invention you can have the same hair without ever having to step foot in the ocean. Bumble and Bumble makes a great salt water spray that adds texture, body and shape identical to the wind-blown beach hair we all desire. There are plenty of other lines to try but B&B have a product that my stylist used on my hair and I saw great results :) The Tone It Up girls featured a video on how to get beachy waves explaining how to get the look:

4- Lip balm: Our skin isn’t the only thing needing protection from the sun’s rays…our lips are a prime target! Using a heavy lipstick or heavy color doesn’t fit the light, carefree style of summer so opt for a nude or neutral lip stain, gloss or tinted lip moisturizer. I like the Burt’s Bees line of tinted lip balms. Neutrogena also has a tinted lip balm with SPF 20 that works really well.

5- SPF: Last but certainly not least, you can’t forget the SPF for your skin. I love the Neutrogena line because I know it won’t clog my pores or leave my skin oily or dry. I am super cautious about what I put on my skin and Neutrogena offers the best with the best protection.

With protecting your skin being the most important aspect of the summer, please take a moment to watch this video and share it. You never know who it can help…
